The license fee of Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi is P300.00 (VAT inclusive). This is charged when you subscriber text 9999 for the installation key/activation code. The Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi installer can be downloaded from myGlobe website for free.

When starting or using Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi Hotspot, you will be charged with Globe's mobile browsing rates. You can choose how you will be charged - by KB (kilobyte) or by TIME (per minute).

  • – KB Browsing Rate – P0.15/kb

Notes:
  • Time Browsing Rate is open to Globe Prepaid, Postpaid Consumer Accounts, SME and Corporate accounts. Not applicable to subscribers on Data Plans (i.e. Visibility). Time Browsing rate is effective upon receipt of text confirmation. Succeeding connections will be charged P5.00 for 15 minutes. If disconnected within the 15 minutes, reconnection will be considered a new session charged at P5.00. No refund will be made if disconnected before the 15mins are up. Applicable to browsing within the Philippines only.
  • Globe Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers are by default on the KB Charging scheme. To switch to the TIME charging scheme, text TIME to 1111 for free!
  • To shift back to KB Browsing: text KB to 1111.
  • To check the charging scheme that currently applies to your account: text STATUS. Send the keyword to 1111 for free.
  • We recommend that you switch to the time-based browsing plan of Globe for the most cost-efficient use of the service.

3. What are the requirements for the use of Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi?

  1. Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi can be installed in Smartphones with Symbian v3 OS. The handsets should also have WLAN and 3G capabilities. Refer to Item 4 for the list of handsets.
  2. The phone needs to have the latest firmware inside. Old firmware versions do not have the technology to enable WLAN sharing (should not be older than October 2007).
    • For Nokia phones - In case you have an old firmware version in your S60 device, you can update the firmware using Nokia Software Updater viahttp://www.nokia.com.ph/A4759322.
Or contact Nokia Careline at +63 (2) 886 1234, 8:30 am - 10:30 pm (Monday to Sunday, including holidays).

    • For Samsung phones - you can update your firmware via http://ph.samsungmobile.com/supports/softwaremanuals/softwareUpdate.do
Or contact Samsung customer contact center at:
      • 1-800-10-SAMSUNG (for PLDT lines)
      • 1-800-3-SAMSUNG (for Digitel Lines)
      • 1-800-8-SAMSUNG (for Globeline)
      • Monday - Sunday : 8:30 AM - 8:30 PM

  3. Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi needs to be turned on to share the internet access. Please note that when you turn Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi on, you allow external devices to access internet via your phone.
  4. The device making the connection via Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi (e.g. laptop or iPod touch) needs to have a WLAN capability and WLAN needs to be turned on. The WLAN device needs to support Ad Hoc WLAN networks (Infrastructure mode is not supported in current Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi releases)
  5. Internet connection needs to be available and enabled. We recommend that you switch to the time-based browsing plan of Globe for the most cost-efficient use of the service (text TIME to 1111). Refer to Item 2 for corresponding charges.
  6. When operated, the Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi client needs to be under coverage of accessible wireless 3G or EDGE network.
  7. Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi needs the phones WLAN resource to make the connection. Please make sure no other applications are reserving the phones WLAN connection (like video conferencing, streaming multimedia, instant messaging, presence information and online games).
  8. If you use security firewalls in your phone, it may prevent establishing an Ad Hoc WLAN connection. Please lower the security level.
  9. There should be no competing WLAN base stations in the same frequency. Your WLAN device may get confused which base station to connect to. Ad Hoc WLAN networks operate in 3 different frequencies. If there is another WLAN base station nearby or in very close proximity that happens to use the same frequency, this may interfere with your Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi connection. Please turn off other WLAN base stations near-by or move further away from the cause, or re-start the Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi to allocate a new frequency.

5. What are the features of Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi?

  • Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi supports 64bit and 128bit WEP encryption with automatic key generator. WEP is a system that secures Wi-Fi networks. Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi comes in two (2) main "strengths", 64bit and 128bit. 128bit encryption is more secure than the 64bit but will require a longer password. The initial password is generated by the Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi application but you have an option to change it.
  • Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi supports Battery Threshold. It will shut down the application when battery level is too low. (You can set the level under Settings)
  • Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi allows you to set landing page on and show your GPS location on it. By default these are OFF, but you can set them on under Settings.
  • Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi allows you to select the transmitting WLAN/802.11 channel. By default it is set to Automatic, which is the recommended setting. The choices indicated on your handset (1, 6 and 11) are the channels in the wireless frequency that Globe Tattoo Wi-Fi is using. If a channel gets too noisy, the network moves to a clear channel - and an automatic setting was designed to deal with this.
